Be part of the conversation about mental health and substance abuse

The King County Recovery Coalition is a proud co-sponsor of the King County Behavioral Health Legislative Forum, where you will hear compelling personal stories from individuals in behavioral health recovery, as well as the perspectives and priorities of legislators and county council members. The event begins with facilitated roundtable discussions with legislators. This is an exciting moment to speak with your legislators and neighbors about why behavioral health issues matter to you.

Each year we host Recovery in Action, an interactive pre-event leading up to the forum, to inspire community members to take actions, great and small, that make a difference in the recovery movement.
We will be holding a virtual “pre-event” in the days leading up to the Legislative Forum. It will look different than our previous Recovery in Action events. Our 2021 offering is a condensed version of the WRA’s signature Elevate Recovery Advocacy on Tuesday November 30 from 5:30-7:30pm. The ninety minute virtual training will be followed by Zoom Cafes to connect, ask questions and network.
REGISTER now to join us for our Forum pre-event, Elevate Recovery Advocacy.
Elevate Recovery Advocacy is our signature public policy and media engagement program. It is more than a training it is the foundation of our statewide recovery movement.
We teach community members:
How to tell their recovery story in a way that drives change
The legislative process at different levels of government
How to persuade a policymaker
How to work with the media
How to take action and be part of the recovery movement
In partnership with our local recovery coalitions, we deliver 5- 6 Elevate Recovery Advocacy classes each year, training nearly 400 community members how to leverage their story and create needed change.
Attending our Elevate pre event is the perfect way tp get ready to interact with the lawmakers at legislative roundtable discussions, listen to guest speakers including Dow Constantine, King County Executive, hear King County Behavioral Health and Recovery Division present their 2022 Legislative Priorities, watch recovery speakers from the community share their stories and our King County lawmakers speak about what behavioral health means to them and the work they are doing in this area.
Thank you for joining us for this special evening.
