Recovery Lifestyle: Curate a Lifestyle That Celebrates & Champions Recovery

As mental health awareness month approaches, it is important to take every opportunity to combat the negative attitudes, prejudices and discriminations around mental health and substance use in our communities. KCRC recognizes how important it is to change mental health and substance use stigma by changing the narrative. One way to do this is through conversation. Please join us for KCRC’s Recovery Lifestyle featuring Cofounder, Alysse Bryson of  The Sober Curator on Thursday April 15th at 1pm Pacific. REGISTER HERE!

King County Recovery Event April: Recovery Lifestyle

Join us for our April KCRC Presents conversation, as we discuss ways to curate a lifestyle that celebrates and champions recovery, featuring Alysse Bryson, Founder of The Sober Curator. Alysse will be joined by several of the contributing Sober Curators from around the United States and in Canada. Currently DJ Missing Mei of The Creative Sober, Suzanne Logan and Brooke Robichaud of Seek Purpose Collective & Podcast, along with Lisa Colgin, Co-Founder of The Sober Curator will be in attendance. This virtual event is free to attend on Thursday, April 15th starting at 1pm Pacific.

The Sober Curator is a resource for those seeking content related to recovery or a zero-proof lifestyle. They are in the business of keeping any person seeking an alcohol free lifestyle entertained and informed by curating, reviewing, and contributing fun and interesting recovery content. Their Ultimate Recovery Playlist will bring you the greatest recovery tunes and their Daily Llama will bring you short, one-word meditations and a corresponding quote for your complete wool-being. Check out the different forms of support available on their site from Podcasts, recipes and substance free adventures in the city to lists of opportunities to Pay it Forward by giving back to the community. You are bound to be entertained and informed.

The Sober Curator Values Include:

  • Inclusive-everyone is welcome
  • Authentic-we keep it real
  • Distinctive- we dance to the beat of our own sober drummers
  • Positive- we focus on the positive, our glass is half full (there’s just no booze in it)
  • Innovative – we’re doing recovery content differently and people are noticing

And Don’t Forget! KCRC wants YOU to Save the Date! Saturday, April 24th is an opportunity for you and your loved ones to “Stay Sober and Go Live” by joining this recovery out loud movement. Let’s all take to social media using the hashtag #just424 and show the world how much fun a sober lifestyle can be! There will be a free, virtual Facebook live event on 4/24 from 1pm – 4:30pm with a healthy list of recovery advocates and sober influencers. Check out all the details here on the event page.

The Project:

Just for 24hrs stay clean and sober to show love and support for someone in recovery. Anyone can participate in this event by remaining clean and sober on 4/24. Post about what you are doing for fun with your friends/family, your favorite alcohol-free beverage, what it is like waking up without a hangover, your journey of recovery, how you support a sober friend, or whatever is on your heart.
